Top 5 Places to Visit in Metro Atlanta

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

I have recently thought about blogging about my past and future travel experiences but I feel like before I even start to talk about different places, I would like to start with my own state.

Whether you're a tourist or thinking about moving here to Georgia, I would like you to know that there are many exciting places you can visit. Georgia offers a plethora of beautiful places you just have to visit!

Don’t believe me?

Below are all the places I believe are worth visiting. FYI, I do want to mention that I‘m going to be talking more about places to visit in nature rather than in the city itself.

Without further ado, here are things to do in Metro Atlanta:

1. Take a trip to the mountains

If you're an outdoors person like me, you're going to love Metro Atlanta for its beautiful nature. When it comes to mountains, Metro Atlanta offers several mountain hikes. My two favorites- The Red top mountain and Yonah mountain. Take your family or friends for a hike and enjoy the beauty of nature from the best views nature can possibly offer.

2. Visit Providence Canyon (Little Grand Canyon)

Is it the glorious view when you're standing above the canyon that makes you love canyons? Does it make you feel like a free bird? I personally know that there is something mystical about canyons that makes everyone who visits them to fall in love with them. As surprising as it is, you may find canyons in the state of Georgia!

3. Cloudland Canyon State Park

Cloudland sits at one of my favorite places in Georgia! Not only does it have a canyon view at a very short hike, but it also boasts 2 beautiful waterfalls! One of them is amazingly beautiful and we actually took a swim in it. Bring extra clothes and enjoy nature at it's fullest at Cloudland! This place is also perfect for engagements or as a wedding venue.

4. Take a boat ride on Lake Lanier

Spending an afternoon on a boat with your friends or family is a fantastic activity to do. If you're passionate about fishing or you just want to have a great lunch on a beautiful lake, Lake Lanier is definitely the right choice for you. There are several boat rental companies around the lake. Don't miss this adventure!

5. Waterfalls

Georgia has so many beautiful water falls to visit, and this alone, may take a whole other blog post, but as for now, besides the Cloudland Canyon waterfall, these are our favorites: Anna Ruby Falls, Tallulah Falls and Vickery Creek Falls. Visiting one of these falls is a wonderful experience because you can see the natural element in its purest form.
